IRB RWC 2011 Host Broadcaster Graphics and Statistics

KIDS provided all on screen graphics and stats for Host Broadcaster (Sky New Zealand).

KIDS has been providing this service for Sky New Zealand since 2000..

KIDS has designed and built its own graphics engines.

We build all our own graphics computers and the software that drives them.

KIDS supplied all the hardware and software required for RWC 2011.

KIDS used our KIDS automated, templated system that was integrated into the KIDS database.

KIDS had three 3D HD Graphics output Computers in all six Outside Broadcast Trucks - 18 in total used by the Host Broadcaster at the match venues.
The three KIDS Graphics Computers were configured to provide both redundancy and standby systems.
Machine "A" was the primary "on air" box.
Machine "B" was the hot standby box.
Machine "C" was a warm redundant box that could be simply plumbed into the telecast in the advent of a failure of A or B. The C machine had continuous feed of all the live data during the telecast.

In actual fact there were no failures during RWC 2011.

The A, B and C boxes each had three Graphics output cards.

Card 1 was the primary output for Host Broadcaster Graphics.
Card 2 was the standby for Card 1.
Card 3 delivered the re-sized and repositioned Host Broadcaster Graphics for the Big Screens at each venue.

In effect, KIDS provided a three way redundant/standby system for both Host Broadcaster and the Big Screens.

KIDS also had backup Graphics systems at the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) at Sky in Auckland.
The stats and graphics data from all games came into Sky/IBC via ISDN lines.
The incoming "clean" pictures to the IBC from each match were processed by KIDS and had the Match Graphics inserted by KIDS at the IBC using the unique KIDS Multiple Output Graphics System.

This method is the standard procedure for the delivery of all SKY NZ Rugby.

IRB RWC 2011 Commentators Information System

The KIDS CIS is a live and in real-time comprehensive multiple page internet based system.

The CIS can be used in different ways by broadcasters to get information.
It can be a simple front page system or an in depth web application.

Broadcasters have the ability to have multiple user end points eg: the commentary position, the OB Truck, the local production office or international locations.

IRB RWC 2011 Tournament Information System

The Tournament Information System was responsible for all match information throughout the RWC 2011 and provided a wide range of facilities and functionality to users.

The TIS was developed by KIDS to encompass all the requirements of the IRB, their agents, their clients,Broadcast Rights Holders and Print Media.

Building the RWC 2011 TIS was an iterative development cycle.
Changes were made in stages with full systems testing.

KIDS Television Graphics and Data Solutions delivered a solid, thoroughly tested and highly functional TIS for RWC 2011.

The following are the KIDS products delivered as part of the RWC 2011TIS.

IRB RWC 2011 Central Results System

The CRS enabled the efficient distribution of information to end users through many channels.

CRS provided live and in real time consistent and accurate statistical data across a broad spectrum of end users.

The CRS allows commentator/writer analysis of game flow and statistics.

The CRS contained the entire IRB historical database of team and player profiles.
